Under Liquid Platform's Hood
What the industry is saying about our latest enhancements to the Liquid Platform
On January 29th, we announced the latest enhancements to our cloud platform were now being utilized by all of our clients. The press community covering hedge funds and the active trading markets picked up on our release and has commented on why our latest additions make sense based on the trends they are reporting on across the industry. In particular, our continued focus on pre-trade risk and compliance controls as part of our end-to-end platform— controls that empower emerging managers and new launches to pass the 'infrastructure and controls' sniff test with institutional investors— have captured the most headlines.

Hedge funds are using the risk analytics and risk measurements as a critical driver for generating alpha and to make investment decisions. "This is all around the concept that as hedge fund managers seek larger allocations, it's imperative that they demonstrate institutional quality controls," said Robert O'Boyle, EVP at Liquid. Because investors have a heighted interest in infrastructure, he said the firm is continuing to add infrastructure and decision support tools to its OERMS.

With pre-trade risk controls becoming a necessity for hedge fund managers, the Liquid platform provides a fully controlled environment that ensures trading activity does not breach investment mandates prior to placing a trade. In version 3.6, Liquid's sub-millisecond pre-trade risk engine now includes net exposure limits, underlying exposure as a percentage of portfolio exposure limits, and position size as a percentage of the average daily volume limits, as part of its library of configurable controls.

"We are spending a lot of development effort around risk and compliance," said Robert O'Boyle, executive vice president at Liquid Holdings. "Version 3.6 is the first release where we have focused on compliance and pre-trade functionality for hedge funds. Our system has an integrated database, which has very few points of failure. The ability to handle the risk and compliance aspects of a hedge fund is critical."
